Good Morning Brian
HI, I am Selwyn Schneider, singer/songwriter
and multi-instrumentalist.
In 1988 I read Heroes and Villains.
I was shocked. As an old Beach Boys fan,
I felt sad that Brian had been SO
badly treated by his father, and I felt inspired to write
a song to dedicate to him.
I started immediately. I got as far
as a backing track with the melody and
rough ideas for the lyrics.Then
life, babies and other projects which came along, meant
that Good Morning Brian was left in its box untouched for
about 5 years.
Recently I read Wouldn't it be Nice
This book really shocked me.
It made me realize for the first time, exactly how much
Brian was the incredible talentbehind the Beach Boys, and
I felt horrified that a man with so much talent, and who
created the most stunning vocal arrangements, should have
to endure the pain and misery which he went through.
Well this prompted me to realize
that the time had come to finish Good Morning Brian.
I hauled it out and set about creating all the Backing Vocals,
finishing the lead vocals and finally mixing it.
This song is my personal tribute
to Brian, created from
the desire to give something back to him, and to somehow acknowledge
his ENORMOUS talent, and his HUGE influence on me over the
years. It really has taken me years to realize just how big
Brians influence on my own music has been.
Brian...I hope you get
to hear this one day......
I send it out to you with sincere

and
TOTAL RESPECT.
